Baban’s Naan shop is a Blackstock Road institution. They’re pretty busy all the time, but on Friday and Saturday afternoons / evenings you will see hoards of Finsbury Park locals queuing up for their naans and wraps. They work so hard! Especially in summer when the heat in there is stifling.

Their falafel wraps are amazing. Hummus, falafel, salad, pickles, all the sauces. For less than a fiver. They make the falafels and kibbeh themselves from scratch. You know it’s going to be a good day when you get to sample a new batch when we collect our naans on a morning.

We use their naans on the café menu to go with our hummus plate and dahl as well as with various brunch specials over the years. They also seem to feature on almost every supper club menu we do. Full credit given to them obviously. We thought about making our own flatbreads when we first opened but soon realised that this was just not sensible or necessary.

In 2020 they got reviewed by The Independent. Ed Cummings sung their praises, highlighting the bargains to be had and his joy at no longer having to eat those stodgy supermarket naans with his homemade curries any more.
